    Grace Lackie

This piece was inspired by the streets of Oamaru, its architecture and old fashioned style, fitting my theme of steampunk perfectly! Oamaru is best known for its steampunk festivals all over the South Island. The building in the background is the original train station with the four men on big old penny farthing bicycles. I think this piece shows and communicates a lifestyle once lived in Oamaru and its generations.

If you look closely, you can see there are two men without faces and two with detailed faces. To me this shows and represents the unknown feeling of lost identity. By not completely knowing who you are or where you’re going, which I can relate to from past experiences and even partly now - but that's OK, because I do not need to know everything at this moment."
